‘Harry the Hare’ and all the artwork featured on this site has been created by Kathryn Harvey.
Born in Bury, Lancashire, Kathryn has lived near Lampeter in West Wales for nearly 20 years. A professional painter since 1997, Kathryn until recently had her own gallery in Aberystwyth.
Although currently not working due to ill health Kathryn has always specialised in animal and nature art, becoming more widely known in recent years for her quirky characters. Many of these have been inspired by real life encounters, either in the countryside or during visits to animal and bird parks throughout the UK.
‘Harry’ himself was created following an early morning encounter near Llandovery in Carmarthenshire.
He was sitting in the middle of the road, deep in conversation with Harriet and that brief chance encounter has provided the inspiration and impetus for all the characters that have followed.
Born with a natural gift and an instinctive ability to give a personality to each of her creations, Kathryn has always been able to adopt different styles for her characters. She works in all media, although the majority of her later work has been created using either acrylic or pastel.
